Crochet Motifs

The weather here has turned a little bit cooler which has made me think about making some scarfs and jackets or coats.

Usually it is pretty warm here so I get  much taken by surprise  a bit when it does start cooling down!

I love crochet and I love the idea of using crochet motifs. I was surfing the web just before and noticed this site:

http://pattihaskins.wordpress.com

and immediately fell in love with these paisley motifs which the blog author saw in a book.

I would love to make them as I love paisley designs.

Maybe I should try to make some?

*Edit*

Ooh! I just read Patti’s post more carefully and noticed that she offers a free PDF with instructions as to how to make the above mentioned paisley motifs. Must have a go now!

Following on from my last post about applying to the wonderful BiDM on March 6th….

Over the holidays I have been working on a few pieces which however are sadly lying around three quarters done , but not just quite completed…..

So now is the time to get all my WIPs (works-in-progress) and get them completed!!

Here are just a couple of pieces that I have added to my shop on etsy.com

Crocheted using viscose metallic yarn

and for a touch of red!

Created with a mix of glass beads, metal & lace

Applying for the first BiDM for 2010

The first BiDM for 2010 is coming up fassssst…

BiDM (which stands for Brisbane Indie Designers Market) is the fantastic market organised by my local Etsy team BrisStyle (etsy.com)

I just received the email yesterday with the application details & sent it straight back…..hope I get in!

The first one for the year is on Saturday 6th March….not long to go now. It hardly seems like any time at all since the very successful market we had on Dec 5th last year. Time has flown soooo fast over the holidays. I have been working on some projects over the break but lots of them are still WIPs (works-in-progress) or really just mere ideas in my head!

I will be hope to be creating a mixed range of goodies for the day – vests for children and women, accessories and jewellery. All made by me with a mix of sewing, crochet, applique and more….

I will keep you posted, dear reader, as to how it all goes!

Successful Market BiDM Style!

Hooked on crochet

I grew up seeing myself as a knitter taught by my mum from an early age  – crochet was something I wasn’t interested in at all..(despite having a lovely crochet dress made for me when I was a pre teen)

I remember knitting a jumper/sweater when I was fifteen (though mum did have to help with that – I still have it,

though it wouldn’t go anywhere near me now : )  It looks soooo tiny!

So when did I make the leap…ummm… just a couple of months ago. I had a quick lesson

from my now elderly mum and I was off …. vroommmm…..

Now it’s jewellery, bags, bikinis, scarves, wraps, boleros, headbands, flowers and more….

You name it I will give it a go : )

Here are a few pics to give you some ideas of what I have been spending my spare time on : )
